The Cherokee Nation's manufactured controversy.

Weird, how people who had been Cherokee, and recognized as such by the state of Alabama since 1984, suddenly weren't Cherokee because the Cherokee Nation decided so in 2007....the same year the Cherokee Freedmen controversy started.
By the way, I would really like to hear members of the Cherokee Nation, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (whose opposition to Lumbee recognition DOES look like Jim Crow), the Echota Cherokee Tribe of Alabama, and the Georgia tribe of Eastern Cherokee, debate this. The Cherokee Nation has even gotten legislatures to change the definition of American Indian in Oklahoma and Missouri!
